Specialty Areas of Nursing Care
Care for Patients in Your Medical-Surgical Specialty
Whether your interest is oncology, orthopedics or another field, our medical-surgical nurses are specialists
At Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network (LVHHN), medical-surgical nurses have a unique opportunity to become specialists in their field. That’s because our medical-surgical units focus on one area of care. It’s better for our nurses because they become experts in their field. It’s better for patients because they’re being cared for by experts.
When medical-surgical nurses join our team, they have the opportunity to work and learn in one of these specialty areas:
- Renal
- Orthopedics
- Hemodialysis
- General surgery
- G.I./colon-rectal surgery
- General medicine
- Oncology
- Transitional skilled unit
Not only do you get to decide which area you’d like to pursue, you’ll receive expert training on the job. You’ll be teamed up with a nursing preceptor who will teach you, answer your questions and get you familiarized with policies and procedures. You’ll also have the opportunity to work and learn from your unit’s patient care specialist.
When you become a nursing expert, you’ll discover how rewarding medical-surgical nursing can be. This page last updated 2/12/08 04:08 PM
